FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Do you ship internationally?
Yes! Lady Bricks jewellery ships internationally with Royal Mail’s International Tracked & Signed service, meaning your jewellery will be fully tracked to the delivery point, with a signature on delivery. Unfortunately due to the European Union's new GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation) I can no longer ship to the EU, EEA, or Northern Ireland for the foreseeable future. I'll be working hard to find a solution that allows me to abide by the new regulations in a way that's affordable for my small business and will be delighted when that day comes. For worldwide delivery, shipping should take 5-7 working days from dispatch. Head to my Shipping & Returns page for more details about shipping.
  • How long will it take for my jewellery to arrive?
Within the UK, your jewellery should arrive within 24 or 48 hours depending on your shipping selection — with free 48-hour shipping on UK orders worth over £50, and free 24-hour shipping on orders over £100. For orders below these amounts, 48-hour shipping is £3.50 and 24-hour shipping is £5. If you're elsewhere in the world, your jewellery should take 5-7 working days to arrive once it has been dispatched. Unfortunately I can't ship to the European Union, EEA, or Northern Ireland for the foreseeable future as a result of the EU's new GSPR regulations. I'll be working hard to find a solution that's affordable for my small business so I can hopefully ship to these countries again one day soon. Jewellery items that are ready to ship will be shipped within 24-48 hours after you place your order. Bear in mind that many Lady Bricks items are made to order, which can take up to 3-4 weeks depending on how busy I am and whether or not your item requires hallmarking. Please get in touch with me if you really need a piece of jewellery by a particular time and I’ll let you know if it will be possible (I’ll do my absolute best!) Head to my Shipping & Returns page for more details about shipping services.
  • Do you allow returns?
Head to my Shipping & Returns page to find out more about my returns policy.
  • What if my jewellery is damaged or faulty when it arrives?
Please check your item as soon as you receive it, and get in touch with me at lady.bricks.silver@gmail.com within 48 hours (ideally including photographs and a description of the issue) if your item is faulty or incorrect to your order so we can discuss the issue and how best to resolve it. I carefully check and document every item of jewellery before it's dispatched so any faults on arrival will likely be due to shipping, for which I am not responsible. I will, however, work closely with you and the shipping company to resolve any issues.
  • What if my jewellery breaks?
If your item gets broken or damaged at any point, please contact me at lady.bricks.silver@gmail.com to discuss repairing it, including photographs and a description of the issue. In some cases it may not be possible to repair your item. Repairs and any costs associated are decided on a case-by-case basis, so if you have any issue with your item please get in touch and we can chat about it.
  • Can I cancel or amend my order?
If you realise you’ve made a mistake when placing your order, please get in touch with me within 24 hours of placing the order, on lady.bricks.silver@gmail.com. Most Lady Bricks jewellery is made to order and, given the nature of production with a small handmade business, I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to amend your order beyond 24 hours of it being placed.
  • Can I ship to someone else?
You can. Just put their address in as the delivery address when you place your order. I can also include a personalised message from you, free of charge, if you leave me a note when you place your order letting me know what you’d like your message to say.
  • How will my order be packed?
Your jewellery will come to you in a beautiful Lady Bricks-branded cardboard jewellery gift box with a cardboard insert. The gift boxes are FSC-approved, plastic-free, and fully recyclable, and they come from a great UK-based, woman-founded packaging company. The gift box will be packed inside a postal box that’s fully compostable, 100% recyclable, made from 62% recycled materials, and carbon neutral, and sealed with paper tape. It will be protected by shredded tissue paper that’s made in the UK from recycled materials and is fully recyclable. So please do recycle (or compost in the case of the postal box) the packaging when you’re done with it. The Lady Bricks jewellery gift box that your jewellery comes in makes a great safe place to store your jewellery when you’re not wearing it.
  • How are you making your jewellery and your business more sustainable?
It’s hugely important to me that Lady Bricks is a sustainable and socially responsible business and I take steps across all areas to ensure the environmental and social impact of my work is minimised. If you see ways that I can improve the sustainability and/or ethical practices of Lady Bricks I’d love to hear from you, as this is an area where I think improvements are always possible. Key to Lady Bricks is sourcing materials, whether it’s packaging, gemstones, sterling silver, or tools and other paraphernalia. I always only source from UK-based companies to help reduce transport-related carbon emissions. I only source from companies that also value sustainability and ethical practices, and which are transparent about their own sourcing and supply lines — including ensuring their own suppliers are sourcing their products in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. The sterling silver I use is 100% recycled when I buy it, and I continue to recycle it further by reusing all scrap silver (including dust) to make more jewellery — like my watercast designs, which are both beautiful and are also a great way of using up leftover silver. The packaging your jewellery arrives in is also 100% recyclable and/or compostable, and some of the packaging materials are also made up of recycled materials (see above for more detail on the packaging your jewellery will arrive in). Get in touch if you have any questions about my environmental or social practices, or have ideas on how I could improve.
  • How do I know what size to get when buying rings, necklaces, or cuffs and bracelets?
Head over to my 'How to know your size' page to find out all you need to know about measuring your size for different types of jewellery.
  • Is your jewellery hypoallergenic?
Yes! All Lady Bricks jewellery is made from sterling silver, which is hypoallergenic and great for sensitive skin. Allergies to jewellery typically come from nickel, so jewellery is normally considered hypoallergenic if there’s no nickel in it, or such a small amount it wouldn’t cause a skin reaction. Sterling silver is 92.5% silver (that’s why 925 is the hallmark stamp for sterling silver), with the remaining 7.5% being copper (which is also a hypoallergenic metal). It’s possible for sterling silver to contain trace amounts of other metals like zinc or nickel, but in such small quantities it’s very rarely a concern for allergies.
  • How should I care for and clean my jewellery?
There's lots of information on how you can take care of your jewellery day-to-day on my Jewellery cleaning & care page. With a bit of TLC, your Lady Bricks jewellery will last a lifetime and beyond.
  • Is all your jewellery handmade?
Yes, it’s all made by me in my little studio at home in the Cambridgeshire Fens. I buy my sterling silver in wire, sheet, or grain form, and the manufacturing and/or casting involved in making your jewellery is all done by me. Some of the findings I use, like trigger clasps for necklaces, are bought pre-made, as are some of the chains, which I buy loose before assembling the jewellery, attaching clasps and so on. I also do all the customer service, product photography, website maintenance, marketing and social media, emails, packaging, post office trips, and everything else involved in running a small business.
  • Do you take custom orders?
I do! I absolutely love working with someone to design a piece of jewellery that’s perfect for them. I can’t absolutely guarantee that I’ll have the right skillset or tools to deliver what you’re looking for, but if you like Lady Bricks jewellery and have an idea for a piece of custom jewellery you’d love made, get in touch and I’d love to chat about it.
  • Do you offer resizing or repairs?
I do in the case it’s Lady Bricks jewellery, and generally at an additional cost unless your jewellery arrived faulty (see above for what to do in that case). Not every single piece of jewellery will be suitable for repair or resizing, but if you have a piece of jewellery that’s the wrong size or is in need of a fix up, get in touch and let’s chat.
  • What’s a hallmark?
Hallmarks are both beautiful and practical, telling you more about your piece of jewellery. They’re tiny marks (generally less than a millimetre high) that are applied to jewellery either with a punch stamp or a laser, and a full UK traditional hallmark features five individual marks. It’s a legal requirement to get jewellery hallmarked if there’s a certain weight of precious metal used — for sterling silver, an item must be hallmarked if there’s more than 7.78g of sterling silver in it. Your Lady Bricks item of jewellery will feature a full UK traditional hallmark if it has more than 7.78g of sterling silver in it. Lighter items of jewellery won’t be hallmarked. Head over to my hallmarking page for more information and to see the UK dealer's notice.
